14) Passenger's state of health - Pregnant women
Passenger's state of health : Special medical conditions have to be declared at reservation. The carrier may deny passengers' boarding if they need special medical treatment during the passage, because the doctor on board, if there is one, will only treat emergency cases. If the passenger presents a health certificate issued by a public health authority (e.g. hospital, medical officer) stating that there is no medical treatment required while on board, the carrier will permit embarkation, however, denying any kind of responsibility for the person concerned.
In addition, the captain is fully entitled to deny embarkation to any person being in a mental or physical state contradicting a passage as well as to any person representing a danger for other passengers due to abuse in alcohol or influence of drugs.
In all cases mentioned above the passenger is not entitled to any damage claims and he is responsible for any damages to his own person, to the ship, its equipment and/or fittings, third persons as well as belongings of third persons.
The admission of a passenger on board by the carrier cannot be regarded as a waiver of any rights which the carrier can assert due to reservations on the conditions of the passenger which are more or less known to the carrier at embarkation and/or departure.
Pregnant Women : Women who are 6 months pregnant must have a medical certificate allowing the passage. It should be presented upon request to the cabin crew.
In the case of a pregnancy with complications the pregnant passenger must have a medical certificate allowing the passage irrespective of the month of the pregnancy. Beyond that the captain is fully entitled to deny embarkation.
The approval of embarkation by the carrier cannot be regarded as a waiver of any rights which the carrier can assert due to reservations on the conditions of the passenger which are more or less known to the carrier at embarkation and/or departure.
The passenger is not entitled to any damage claims and he is responsible for any damages to his own person, to the ship, its equipment and/or fittings, third persons as well as belongings of third persons.
14 bis)Disabled or persons of reduced mobility: In order to simplify embarkation for passengers with special needs, we recommend informing the terminal staff at the embarkation port upon arrival.
